We are thrilled to announce that we have been matched with a
sweet little girl. She will most
likely have just turned 5 when we pick her up. So she and David will be a little over 8 months apart. She currently lives northeast of
Beijing so she is in a colder climate.
I’ve been keeping track of her weather. Really, it’s the only connection I can make on a daily basis
to my new daughter. I’ll take what
I can. She has a repaired cleft
lip and palate, which happens to be on the same side as Isaac’s cleft. So we will be going through the paces
again because we now know that repaired doesn’t mean everything is taken care
of. But we don’t care because she
has this sweet little smile.
Sigh.
In other news, life continues to travel at the speed of
light at our house. Thankfully
gymnastics competition season is over so we are no longer traveling every other
weekend. Now we get to start
soccer. Yes, we have finally
signed David up for soccer and he is SO EXCITED! We get to talk about soccer every day. He will practice for 30 minutes on
Saturday and then they will have a game.
We’re talking intense stuff here.
Regardless, David is thrilled!
He has been counting down until his first game. Kate has been counting down too because
David’s first soccer game comes the day after my baby girl turns 13.
Ugh. Somebody
just punched me in the gut. How
did my baby get so old? Did we not
just bring her home from the hospital last week? Yikes! I will
say, I am very proud of our girl. While
there are moments when she makes me pull my hair out, most of the time I am
just impressed with the young person she is becoming. She has now reached the point where she talks so fast, I am
the only person in the house who can understand her. I remember going through this stage as a youth. Fortunately, I still speak teenage girl
so I can translate for Sean.
Isaac is also growing and changing before our eyes. He eats as much if not more than Sean,
yet he continues to maintain his slim physique. We measured the boys the other day to see how they were
coming on the growth chart for their age.
When compared with Caucasian kids, Isaac didn’t fare so well. But when we pulled up the Chinese
growth chart he was in the 50th percentile for both weight and height! This is so encouraging for us. He has come so far! He continues to love karate. This time next year he will be testing
for his black belt!
We’re all excited to finally be adding the fourth child to
the mix. There will no longer be
an empty bed in the house. There
will no longer be an empty chair at the dinner table. There will no longer be an imbalance in the boy to girl
ratio in our house. We’re looking
forward to hearing her laugh.
We’re looking forward to hearing her sing. We’re looking forward to hugging that little body. Praying for all the paperwork to go
smoothly so we can travel and praying that her heart is ready for our love!
